People and music have always been two of the most important joys in my life. Several years ago my
husband and I were given a list of the concerts scheduled by the Schola Antiquae Vocis and we decided
to attend the first one we could. I seemed to know immediately that I wanted very much to belong to
this choir. After the concert I sent an e-mail to Renato asking for an audition and he called me and said
he would let me know when he would be holding the next auditions. When the time came and I was
accepted I felt as if I had been given an amazing gift. What a joy it is to be a part of this wonderful
group, singing this incredible music under the directions of a man with such a God given talent. I shall
always be incredibly thankful for the wonderful opportunity of singing with this choir.

The memory of being in the Vatican Gardens on the 4th of July 2003 is a very special one to me because
once we were past all the check-point and close to the outside of the wall our choir director reminded us
that it was "Happy Birthday" time...to the USA.  We sang the most glorious Star Spangled Banner right
there, before walking around and shortly later singing from our repertoire in front of the reconstruction
of the Grotto at Lourdes, eventually having a picnic lunch in a lovely secluded area, surrounded by a
boxwood hedge. When I auditioned to be accepted into this wonderful choir in March 2002 I never
imagined it would lead to the wide range of experiences that both local concerts in the Pacific Northwest
and travel to farther away places have provided which in turn have allowed for personal growth through
hard work but also immense enjoyment.

Singing this mystically beautiful, spiritual music is a wonderful privilege.  The words, rich in meaning, the
music of the very best composers, together makes the music of angels.  The hard work of learning and
rehearsing this music gives the reward of achieving the accomplishment of performing this music well.
We are so fortunate to have a director so very capable of teaching this music.  The experience of singing
and performing this music brings a special kind of joy and spirituality to my life.  Another joy is the
community and friendship of the women that make up the choir.  Although the rehearsals and concerts
are work, we have a lot of fun and fellowship that means a lot to our lives.  The wonderful venues in
which we have performed have brought very unique and fantastic experiences to my life.  The Italy
concert tours have given me once in a lifetime experiences that I will always treasure.
